The aim of the Government's national equality policy is that women and men should have the same power to shape society and their own lives. To achieve this, the Government has laid down four long-term objectives for its equality policy:
- An even distribution of power and influence
- Economic equality
- An even distribution of unpaid work in the home and care work
- Violence by men directed at women must cease.
Important tasks for the County Administrative Board are to co-ordinate, support and follow up equality work in the county. We also contribute to increased knowledge of the importance of equality in society through, for example, social analyses, seminars and projects.
We counteract violence by men directed at women
The County Administrative Board also draws attention to ways in which the social services work on addressing violence by men directed at women.
We counteract honour-related violence
During the period 2002–2007 the County Administrative Board was commissioned by the Government to work to counteract honour-related violence. We work for example on
-
prevention and support initiatives, such as action plans in schools
-
training of personnel who work with children and young people or young women
-
the build-up of networks and collaboration with a range of different authorities and organisations.
