Building infrastructure

In conjunction with the expansion of roads and railways, the County Administrative Board makes an assessment and examines possible conflicts between communication interests and other interests, such as nature, the environment, the cultural environment and regional development. We also make a similar assessment of the expansion of shipping and air traffic in the county.

Government support for broadband

The County Administrative Board also decides on Government support to stimulate the expansion of broadband in the municipal areas within the county, to ensure that as many people as possible have access to broadband and that capacity is maximised.

Building consent for masts

If you intend to erect a radio or telecommunications mast or tower you will require building consent. If the natural environment at the location in question could be changed materially you must consult with the County Administrative Board before you erect the mast. The same applies if there are known or probable ancient remains at the location.
