By stimulating the development of industry and commerce the County Administrative Board is involved in creating new job opportunities. The aim is for all municipal authorities in the county to have active companies that can offer work to as many people as possible. At the same time there must be a good level of service for the population in all parts of the county. In order to achieve this we have various means at our disposal, including support, grants and evaluations.

The County Administrative Board encourages commerce and industry to work with aspects related equality, the environment and integration to ensure that sustainable development and growth are affected positively by these factors. This is why there are particular initiatives for:

  • the development of small companies
  • female entrepreneurship
  • immigrant entrepreneurship
  • support for commercial services in rural areas

In a number of counties these duties have been taken over by regional collaboration bodies made up of the municipal authorities and the county council.

Competition issues

The County Administrative Board should promote efficient competition in the private and public sector to the benefit of consumers. This work is done in close collaboration with the Swedish Competition Authority, which is a central administration authority for matters related to competition.

This assignment includes in particular:

  • providing information about competition matters
  • bringing to the attention of the Swedish Competition Authority circumstances that suggest infringements of competition regulations
  • highlighting regulations that prevent effective competition
  • highlighting different obstacles that prevent effective competition in public administration and presenting proposals for measures to eliminate these obstacles
  • conducting inquiries into competitive conditions within different sectors.

Do you suspect that certain persons or companies submitting tenders have agreed to limit or eliminate competition? If so, you should contact the County Administrative Board or the Competition Authority.
