Bingo and lotteries
In the majority of cases anyone who wishes to arrange a lottery or bingo requires a permit. This can be obtained from the County Administrative Board, the municipal authority or the Gaming Board.
A Swedish non-profit organisation (legal entity) which satisfies the conditions laid down in the Lotteries Act is permitted to arrange a lottery or bingo.
Applying for a lottery permit
Associations normally apply for a permit to arrange a lottery in the municipality in which the association operates. If the lottery is to be run in several municipalities within a county the matter is dealt with by the County Administrative Board.
The Gaming Board handles permits if the lottery is planned to take place in several counties. The Gaming Board also handles matters related to lotteries on television, radio and similar media.
Applying for a bingo permit
An application for a permit to run bingo is dealt with by the County Administrative Board in the county in which the association operates. If bingo is to be run in several counties this is a matter for the Gaming Board.
Apply for a bingo permit well in advance of the date on which play will commence. The association can apply using a special form, which is available from the County Administrative Board.
