Each of Sweden's counties has a County Administrative Board that functions as the right hand of the Swedish Parliament and Central Government and has responsibility for seeing to it that their policies and decisions are implemented.
Each County Administrative Board has a wide range of expertise at their disposal, and use these skills for the benefit of their counties, ensuring that counties develop for the benefit of their inhabitants and looking after the interests of those inhabitants.
The responsibilities of the County Administrative Board cover a wide span that embraces many specialist areas in the day-to-day life of the community as a whole. Everything, indeed, from the issue of individual driving licences to major issues affecting the inhabitants of the whole region. The County Administrative Board also have responsibility for coordinating work in connection with the EU's structural funds.
The most senior official at the County County Administrative Boardis the County Governor. Its most senior decision-making body is a committee whose members are drawn from the political parties represented in the county.
The role of County Administrative Board include:

• Coordinating the varying interests of their counties
• Promoting the development of their counties
• Setting targets to be attained at regional level
• Ensuring that the rule of law is not infringed
